I was at a church once where the minister would recommend the book by Charles Barker, "How to change other people". It was a best seller. People would see the title and buy the book immediately. Naturally, no sooner had they read the first couple of pages, did they realize that the book was all about changing themselves. The miracle was that when they did change themselves, it was as if the outside world did change.
Alfred North Whitehead said it like this: "Nature is a dull affair, soundless, scentless, colorless, it is we who give the rose its scent and the nightingale its song."
