Last year our community experienced a ferocious fire in which lives were lost, and thousands of family homes and structures burned. Ever since those middle-of-the-night emergency notifications, we have been busy helping each other and doing our best to find our way back to the center of peace within.
The fires broke out on the second week of our annual Giving Intention Program. Clearly, we couldn’t go on with business-as-usual when lives were in danger. So, we refocused to meet the needs of our community. The response of our Center and its people reawakened my confidence that ordinary people everywhere are capable of extraordinary acts of kindness and generosity.
This year our goal is to regroup and recover by inviting everyone in our community to participate. When you turn in your givingintention form during the month of October, you will receive two wonderful gratitude gifts. Giving Intention Team members are in the Social Hall to answer your questions and help you complete your form.
Your giving intention form helps the staff and leadership of the Center plan the 2019 budget so that we can continue to have the excellent and inspiring programs, classes, and services that we have come to associate with our Center.
I also want you to know that we’ve been making a difference in the lives of our community, and in the world, by providing financial support to those impacted by the fires, supporting international Science of Mind works, helping teens across the nation attend summer camp, and more. This month we will also let you know which 12 nonprofit partners have been selected from your nominations for 2019.
Thank you for the love you share with us.
