Sometimes a person is very clear about the truth of their spiritual nature. Other times, they may need a little help to get back to what they know is true, but seem to have lost track of. There are two methods of giving a Spiritual Mind Treatment (affirmative prayer) that can help restore a person. The first is a series of direct statements of spiritual truths. Making these statements in your prayer creates a sense of harmony and has the effect of reconnecting us to our spiritual truth.

When a person needs a little more help getting back to clarity, the second method of treatment can be used. In this method, we are reasoning our way back to clarity by refuting ideas that are incorrect.
In this week’s assigned reading, Dr. Ernest Holmes, the founder of our movement, writes that in this entire process, the one praying deals with nothing but their own thought. Their affirmations, denials, and realizations take place at the center of their own consciousness, and they never attempt to project them. In prayer, we make no attempt to concentrate or force. Rather, we try to get back to the spiritual truth of our being.
