Tom Brokaw wrote a book The Greatest Generation Which includes the recollections of people who fought in the second world war. These people had horrific experiences of loss and violence. Yet instead of complaints, what comes through in the book is pride at having played a part in helping change the world for the better.
And the most fascinating part is that only a few of the people interviewed were lead actors, Generals, Captains, Medal winners. Most were just plain old ordinary people. Women, men, soldiers, nurses, pilots doing their part. I read about Tom Brokaw's book in Rabbi Kushner's book Living a Life that Matters.
You may not know why you are in the situation you are in Or what good may come of it Or how the part that you're playing factors into it. I suggest that the movie is not complete without your part.
You may not have the lead role. You may be the essential best supporting actor right now it may be incomprehensible to you that your actions or your living makes a significant difference and I believe it does – there is an “other side” to your tapestry.
