In writing about spirituality, Ernest Holmes states that “perfect technique alone does not result in great art. We speak of the soul of an artist, that subtle and indefinable something, which is the essence of all art. This is a definite feeling, a communion with Invisible Harmony, the Supreme Being, the Mind and Heart of God, or the Creative Essence.” In other words, spirituality may be thought of as our recognition of the spiritual universe as a Living Presence of Good, Truth, Beauty, Peace, Power, and Love.

I think of spirituality as a constant quest to feel and embrace the Presence of the Divine through these qualities and to sense it in everyone and everything. The result is difficult to put into words because it is a felt experience. Nevertheless, when a person does realize their relationship to the Divine, words will flow with warmth and feeling. This is the heart of our affirmative prayer practice and the secret to successful living.

This Wednesday, February 14, at the free Wednesday Night Wisdom class, I will be addressing the topic of “Successful Living” as presented in Ernest Holmes’s book, It’s up to You.

Warm regards,

Edward Viljoen
