Dear Rev. Viljoen,
I am writing to invite you and your faith community to join us in an Interfaith Prayer Service. We organize this as people of faith in response to the 350 Campaign and October 24th International Day of Climate Action. You can read about them at the webpages at - http://www.350.org/people/faith and http://www.350.org/node/9054. We welcome your participation in the prayer service, and please let us know if you have any questions or suggestions.

You are cordially invited to
An Interfaith Prayer Service
In response to the October 24th International Day of Climate Action
Presented by the EarthKeeping Ministry of Christ Church United Methodist
Saturday, October 24, 2009, 7:00 pm
At Christ Church United Methodist
1717 Yulupa Ave, Santa Rosa, CA – just south of Hoen Ave
On the evening of October 24th, we will come together as people of faith in an Interfaith Prayer Service, joining hundreds of thousands of people in over 155 countries around the world on this International Day of Climate Action. We invite people of different religions and traditions to express, in their unique ways, prayers for health and happiness of all living beings on this Earth. We come together giving thanks for the 350 Campaign (www.350.org) to call on the world’s leaders to commit to decreasing carbon dioxide levels in Earth’s atmosphere as they prepare for the final global climate meeting in Copenhagen in December.
350 represents more than just a scientific benchmark for a safe climate – there are also deeply moral and spiritual reasons for getting the world back below 350 ppm CO2. Social justice, creation care, stewardship, earth community, beloved community – there are many ways we can name and express our moral and spiritual perspectives on this issue. We invite people of all faiths and all traditions to join hands with us in prayer, meditation, action, and celebration for 350.
